YATERÉ - is a Guarani myth, with great diffusion in Paraguay and Argentina. It’s some sort of a goblin, with blonde hair, wears a straw hat and carries a golden pot which contains his "Powers". Yasy Yateré lives in the jungle, rests in the hollows of the trees and comes out at siesta time. He kidnaps mischievous children, licks their foreheads to remove the holy water of baptism and after playing with them for a while he abandons them in the forest.
